KYIV. Oct 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The bodies of 50 fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War (POWs) reported.
“Today, based on the results of repatriation activities, the Ukrainian side managed to return to the controlled territory the bodies (remains) of 50 killed (died) defenders of Ukraine,” the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said on the Telegram channel on Friday.
As noted in the message, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will ensure proper and safe transportation of those repatriated for transfer to law enforcement officials and forensic experts for the purpose of organizing and conducting investigative actions and forensic examinations.
The implementation of the event was carried out by the Coordination Headquarters and became possible thanks to interaction with the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other structures of the security and defense sector of Ukraine with the assistance and direct participation of representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
