BRUSSELS. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell speaks about the possibility of redirecting the export of products of the European military-industrial complex from third countries to Ukraine in order to provide the country with the necessary amount of ammunition to repel Russian aggression.
He spoke about this option to solve the problem with the shortage of ammunition on Tuesday in Brussels to journalists before the start of a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council at the level of defense ministers. Borrell said keep in mind that the EU defense industry exports a lot: about 40% of production is exported to third countries, so there is no shortage of production capacity, they send their products to other markets. He said they should try to move these products to a priority destination, that is Ukraine.
According to him, for this approach to be implemented for European companies, it is necessary to create another market, which could be more interesting for them.
