Borrell: It’s up to Ukrainians to decide what they mean by victory in war with Russia

BRUSSELS. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainians should decide for themselves what victory in the war with Russia means for them, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell said.

"As I said, it’s up to Ukrainians to decide what they mean by victory. The country that is being destroyed is Ukraine. People, who are frozen, are Ukrainians. Seven million people that left Ukraine are Ukrainians. They entail hardships. So, let Ukrainians to decide. I think its is quite logical. How can I say to the Ukrainians what they have to do?" Borrell said at a press conference at the end of the meeting of the European Council on Foreign Affairs in Brussels on Monday.

He assured that the EU will support Ukraine.

In addition, the head of EU diplomacy stressed that the Russian army suffered a major defeat in Kherson. "The withdrawal from Kherson shows that the Russian army has already suffered a major defeat. They came out without a fight, perhaps, to avoid something worse happening to them. But they retreated," Borrell said.
