By KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov saidthe temporarily occupied Crimea will be returned under Ukrainian control.
“I was there [in Crimea] for sure in 2016 – this is already a recognized fact. And our guys were also there recently, and will continue, and not only ours. Crimea will be returned, Crimea is ours, no Russia It can’t be there. It’s ours and no one else’s,” he said in an interview with Natalia Moseychuk.
Answering the question of what will happen if Russia nevertheless announces Crimea as a “red line,” Budanov said: “They announced it many times.”
The risk for Ukraine of the use of nuclear weapons from the territory of Belarus, the intelligence chief assessed as “zero.” He called the location of nuclear weapons in Belarus “a big geopolitical game” and a means of “raising the stakes.”
