By KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Russia’s military defeat is a threat to China, although they support the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Head of the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Kyrylo Budanov has said.
“You need to understand China. This is not a European perception of the world, this is a distinctive culture, its own world. Their logic is not always clear to our population. For China, it is the military defeat of Russia that is bad, to put it mildly. Because in a big strategic game, as they understand it, they will then be left face to face with their, as they believe, opponents. And they do not want this,” Budanov told Natalia Moseychuk.
At the same time, as the head of military intelligence said, China openly supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine. According to him, this official statement is important in China.
“That is, they need such a configuration in which Russia will not suffer an open defeat, so as not to be left alone with its problems, but it is also desirable that Ukraine regain its sovereignty. But I emphasize – it is desirable,” he said.
