Cases of local residents' disappearance increased in temporarily occupied territories – Defense Ministry

KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The number of cases of disappearances of local residents has increased in the territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by Russia, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Oleksandr Motuzianyk has said.

"The occupiers are now hastily taking out everything they managed to steal away from the collision line to the so-called safe areas, or to the territory of Russia. In addition, there has been an increase in the number of cases of disappearance of local residents, as well as raids and hunting of men of military age, who are forcibly taken to the military registration and enlistment offices to ensure the implementation of the mobilization plan in the temporarily occupied territories," Motuzianyk said at a briefing at the Military Media Center on Thursday.

He said the introduction by the enemy last week of the so-called martial law in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions is aimed at further strengthening the occupation regime and pressure on the local population, including through additional anti-Ukrainian so-called filtration measures, coercion local residents to carry out heavy fortification work at the forefront of the invaders, the removal of material and historical values ​​from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

"At the same time, Russian propaganda, in order to reduce panic in society, has stepped up the dissemination of false and distorted information in the temporarily occupied territory that, allegedly, with the introduction of martial law, the Russian leadership will increase the volume of humanitarian assistance to the local population," Motuzianyk said.
