By KYIV. Oct 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine will not be free until it returns to its internationally recognized 1991 borders, and no decision regarding the future of Crimea can be imposed on Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars from the outside, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said.
“The Russian occupation of Crimea is a violation of international law and the UN Charter. We will continue to talk about this as long as necessary. Ukraine will not be free until it returns to its internationally recognized 1991 border. Including Crimea. This is a moral issue, an issue of freedom and rights people,” he said at a meeting of the second parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform, which is taking place in Prague on Tuesday.
Fiala said that the whole world needs the Black Sea region to be peaceful and stable.
“We cannot allow another precedent to arise. Foreign land cannot be seized by force. We need to make sure that no solution is imposed on Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars from the outside. I believe that our second parliamentary summit will contribute to achieving the highest goal – the return of international legal order and historical justice,” the prime minister said.
He emphasized that it’s about the common future of Crimea, Ukraine and Europe.
Fiala also noted that the Czech Republic has its own historical experience in the fight against aggressive Russian imperialism, and now Prague is one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine.
