KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Denmark will transfer a grant contribution totaling EUR 7 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which will be used to purchase equipment to restore energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine announced.
According to its release on Tuesday evening, the first tranche of EUR 4 million will be provided shortly, with another EUR 3 million to follow.
As noted in the release, the provision of funds was announced by Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities of Denmark Lars Aagaard during a meeting with Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Haluschenko at the international conference Energy for the recovery of Ukraine in Warsaw, organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy.
His press service indicates that Aagaard assured that Denmark would continue to assist Ukraine in confronting the Russian aggressor, in particular on the energy front, noting that this is the clear position of both the country’s government and Danish business.
Haluschenko, in turn, thanked Denmark for becoming the first sponsor of the Fund, making a grant contribution in the amount of approximately EUR 536,000, which was aimed at purchasing energy equipment for ten Ukrainian energy companies.
“During the war, the Ukrainian-Danish energy partnership played an important role for urgent repairs and development of decentralized generation. We appreciate the help of the Danish government and the entire people and are confident in deepening our cooperation for the further restoration and modernization of the Ukrainian energy sector,” the Minister of Energy noted.
