EBRD, Mariupol to sign agreement on support for city recovery strategy

KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Mariupol will sign an agreement on support for the city recovery strategy at the EBRD’s Warsaw Resident Office on Friday, the press service of the bank said.

The EBRD will assess the scale of destructions in the city caused during Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. It will carry out an unbiased micro-level assessment of the damage and needs of the city in order to estimate the financial needs for its recovery. The bank’s report will be taken as a basis for Mariupol Recovery Strategy, which will include the main cost estimate and attract potential investors and donors for the restoration of the city after its full liberation from the Russian occupation.

Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko will sign the agreement on behalf of the city with Managing Director of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus at the EBRD Matteo Patrone and Deputy Head of EBRD Ukraine Mark Magaletsky in Warsaw.
