Electricity deficit remains, but emergency outages applied only in one third of regions

KYIV. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of 11:00 am on Thursday, Ukraine’s power system continues to experience a significant shortage of resources, due to the excess of consumption limits provided to regional energy companies, schedules of emergency power outages are forced to be introduced in some regions, NPC Ukrenergo reported.

"Now the most difficult situation remains in the eastern region: in the evening, the enemy again subjected several areas to massive artillery shelling. Where the situation allows, an examination of the state of the power grid is being carried out. After receiving permission from the military, repair work will begin," Ukrenergo said in a statement on the Telegram channel on Thursday.

They also noted that weather conditions complicate the situation: in many regions in the west of the country, frost, rain with snow and strong gusts of wind lead to icing of the wires and their damage.

Ukrenergo also notes that emergency recovery work continues around the clock in Kyiv and Odesa regions, in particular, in Odesa, the process of connecting household consumers according to backup schemes is underway.

DTEK Odesa Electric Grids announced on the night of December 8 that power was supplied to Odesa and urged consumers who had no electricity to turn off electrical appliances to prevent their possible damage.

On the night of December 8, Poltavaoblenergo announced hourly power outages on its Facebook page, but two queues at the same time, in the morning, it announced the introduction of special emergency outage schedules, and a few minutes later they were canceled by the order of Ukrenergo.

Lvivoblenergo, Cherkasyoblenergo, Chernihivoblenergo, Chernivtsioblenergo, Mykolaivoblenergo, Prykarpattiaoblenergo, Zakarpattiaoblenergo, Rivneoblenergo, Vinnytsiaoblenergo, Volynoblenergo, Khmelnytskoblenergo, Sumyoblenergo, and Kirovohradoblenergo report on their websites or on Facebook pages on the effect of hourly schedules on December 8, although some operators note that consumption limits are slightly less than those determined on December 7, so the outages will either be longer or will cover several queues at once. Also, many warn about the possibility of using emergency power outages.

Kharkivoblenergo, Zaporizhiaoblenergo, Zhytomyroblenergo, Khersonoblenergo, and Ternopiloblenergo inform about emergency restrictions, as well as all DTEK network operators – Odesa, Dnipro, Donetsk, Kyiv and Kyiv regional electric grids.
