Electricity for non-residential consumers to rise in price by about UAH 0.15 per 1 kWh from Jan 1, 2023

KYIV. Dec 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The final price of electricity for non-residential consumers from January 1, 2023 will increase by an average of UAH 0.15 per 1 kWh as a result of the increase by the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine (NEURC) of tariffs for electricity transmission and dispatching services of NPC Ukrenergo, as well as for electricity distribution and services of universal service providers for 2023.

"As a result of adjusting these tariffs, the average increase in electricity prices for end non-residential consumers will be about UAH 0.15 per kWh. At the same time, the average increase in electricity prices for industrial energy-intensive consumers will be about UAH 0.4 per kWh," the NEURC said at its website after the meeting on Wednesday, at which the relevant decisions were taken.

As the regulator noted, the adjustment of tariffs took place, first of all, by allocating funds for electric grid operators for emergency restoration of damaged electric power facilities, creating an emergency stock of equipment and purchasing the goods and services necessary for this.

"The adjustment of tariffs effective from January 1, 2023 took place at a minimum level, taking into account the need to ensure a balanced work of the system operator, distribution system operators, universal service providers and maintain a sufficient level of sustainability of Ukraine’s power system," the National Commission stressed.

As the regulator explained, despite the situation in the energy sector, which was largely affected as a result of hostile aggression, and also taking into account the current socio-economic situation in the country, the commission limited the growth of these tariffs.

"We managed to keep them at a balanced level, which is in the interests of all participants in the electricity market, including producers and consumers," the NEURC says.

In turn, the price of electricity for household consumers remains at the current level in accordance with Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated June 5, 2019 No. 483.
