Jan 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The enemy continues to conduct active hostilities in Bakhmut direction, the Russian forces mounted 238 attacks on the defense forces using various types of weapons in the past 24 hours, Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Serhiy Cherevaty has said.
"So far, the enemy is very active in Bakhmut direction. In particular, it mounted 238 [attacks] using various fire systems, artillery tanks along the entire Bakhmut frontline section in the past 24 hours. There were 22 clashes. The enemy lost 142 people (killed) and 204 were injured," he said on air of the national telethon on Wednesday.
Today, it is hard to say that "there is some kind of a calm period" in Bakhmut direction, Cherevaty said.
Commenting on the British intelligence estimates that the period of the most intensive Russian attacks near Bakhmut is over, he said that, probably, "the British special services are making their forecasts with the projection of the future."
