By BRUSSELS. Nov 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Union called untrue the information that representatives of the United States and the EU are discussing with the Ukrainian side possible peace talks with the Russian Federation.
A senior European diplomat told reporters about this in Brussels on Monday on condition of anonymity. “If it was true I supposed I should know. I guess it’s not true,” he said.
Answering a question from the Interfax-Ukraine agency about a possible revision of the types of weapons supplied by the EU to Ukraine in connection with the latest assessment of the situation on the battlefield, which was given by Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny in his article, the interlocutor of journalists noted that “the one who is on the way is air support.” “A famous F16. Noting that as of today he does not know the content of the recommendations of the European Commission regarding the possible start of membership negotiations, he said that they shouldn’t wait for the end of the war so that Ukraine could prepare itself for membership. He added that this is what Ukraine wants to do, and will be supported on this way.
As known, on November 8, the European Commission will publish the so-called “expansion package”, which will assess the progress of Ukraine, which has the status of a candidate, in implementing the recommendations, the implementation of which is necessary for the start of membership negotiations.
