EU-Ukraine summit may evaluate Ukraine's implementation of European Commission recommendations – Stefanchuk

KYIV. Jan 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The upcoming EU-Ukraine summit may assess Ukraine’s implementation of the European Commission recommendations to start negotiations on joining the European Union, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk believes.

"I think that this summit can already assess progress on implementation, because there seems to be such an agreement. Therefore, we will expect a fair, honest, equal assessment of our efforts from the European Union," Stefanchuk said in an interview on the air of the telethon on Friday.

He expressed hope that the presidency of Sweden and Spain in the EU Council this year would contribute to Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union.

Stefanchuk reminded that the Ukraine-EU summit would be held on February 3 in Kyiv.

As reported, Stefanchuk expects the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU in 2023.
