KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Standing Commission of the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) on Wednesday continued the work of the European ATM Voluntary Solidarity Fund for 2024 to support Ukraine and Moldova, Andriy Yarmak, director of UkSATSE, said.
“As this year, the Fund will ensure the implementation of the operational activities of UkSATSE and create the preconditions for the restoration of services in the country’s airspace after the end of hostilities,” Yarmak wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
As reported, 41 EUROCONTROL member states announced at the end of November 2022 the creation of two voluntary solidarity funds to support member states in air traffic crisis situations for reasons beyond their control: the first is a donation fund for Ukraine and Moldova in the amount of EUR 46.5 million and the second in the form of a loan of EUR 46.1 million to Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.
Ukraine received the first tranche of assistance from the Solidarity Fund on February 16, 2023.
