KYIV. Oct 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova on October 27-28 paid a working visit to Geneva (Switzerland), where she focused on consolidating the efforts of international organizations in providing assistance and support to Ukraine, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.
"Emine Dzhaparova and the newly elected members of the UN Human Rights Council and the permanent representatives of a number of foreign states to the UN discussed human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, as well as Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine," the statement says.
In particular, at a meeting with UN Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees Kelly Clements, Dzhaparova noted the need to coordinate humanitarian response in the autumn-winter period. She also stressed the importance of supporting and protecting the citizens of Ukraine, in particular children who were illegally taken to the territory of the Russian Federation in violation of international humanitarian law.
"Our citizens should know that we remember them and will do everything possible for their safe return to their homeland," the deputy minister stressed.
In turn, at a meeting with UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Nada Al-Nashif, Dzhaparova noted the importance of an effective response of the Office of the High Commissioner to the crimes of the Russian Federation using all monitoring and human rights mechanisms. She also stressed the role of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission and Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine during the Russian Armed Aggression in providing objective information on the establishment of facts of violations of human rights, international humanitarian law and other crimes of the Russian Federation.
"The parties discussed the ways to implement the plan proposed by the Office of the President of Ukraine, which provides for the implementation of concrete steps to protect the rights of Ukrainians in captivity," the Foreign Ministry said.
