Four European NPP operators move to WANO Paris center from Moscow following Energoatom

KYIV. Jan 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Four European energy companies operating nuclear power plants moved to the Paris Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) following the Ukrainian state enterprise Energoatom.

"In December 2022, the WANO governing board supported the request of four European companies to move from WANO’s Moscow to Paris center," Energoatom said on its Telegram channel.

In particular, following Energoatom, the Czech CEZ, the Slovak Slovenské Elektrárne, the Finnish Fortum and the Hungarian MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd from January 1, 2023 joined the WANO Paris center.

"Earlier, these enterprises applied to the management of WANO with a general request to move to another regional center," the company said.

The World Association of Nuclear Operators unites all nuclear power plant operators in the world. It promotes the exchange of experience in the operation of nuclear power plants so that its members can work together to achieve the highest level of safety and reliability of nuclear power plants.

On March 31, 2022, all Ukrainian nuclear power plants, after 33 years of being in the Moscow center of WANO, were transferred to Paris.
