KYIV. Sept 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Recent claims by the Georgian security forces about Ukraine’s alleged involvement in the planning of a coup in Georgia are not true, Ukraine never intruded and does not plan to intrude in Georgia’s domestic affairs, Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko has said.
“We have noticed statements by representatives of the Georgian security bloc about the alleged involvement of Ukraine in preparing a rebellion in Georgia. This information is not true,” he said on Facebook on Monday.
The ministry’s spokesperson stressed that the incumbent Georgian authorities “are again trying to demonize Ukraine with the aim of resolving their domestic political issues.”
As reported, the State Security Service of Georgia claimed that a group of people is planning to raise destabilization and riots in October-December with the ultimate goal to change the government by force.
The special service also said that the organizers are allegedly “considering a possibility of implementing in Georgia a scenario similar to the 2014 Euromaidan in Ukraine.”
