Germany hands over equipment for neurosurgical operations to Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital – Embassy

KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – German Ambassador Anka Feldhuzen, together with Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereschuk, visited the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Hospital in Kyiv and handed over new equipment to the hospital, the German Embassy has reported.

"The Federal Government of Germany through the German Development Bank KfW and the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund (USIF) allocates funds in the amount of about EUR 750,000. Thanks to this support, the hospital was equipped with equipment for a modern neurosurgical operating room," the embassy said in a Facebook post.

According to Director General of the hospital Volodymyr Zhovnir, a unique neuronavigation system funded by Germany will allow for a faster recovery of young patients with the help of targeted surgical interventions.

"It is extremely sad that children have to suffer so much from the war, and we are glad that this can contribute to the future of Ukraine – to its children. The German government will make every effort to further support the sustainability of Ukraine’s social infrastructure, including in the healthcare sector," Feldhusen said.
