Govt, UN and USAID agree to create platform, HQ to coordinate regions' needs to pass winter period

KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The government of Ukraine, the UN and USAID systems have agreed to create a platform and headquarters to coordinate the needs of the regions for the passage of the winter period.

"The government has collected the needs of the regions for the passage of the winter period and the need for humanitarian assistance, and has already transferred them to the UN system. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted this during a coordination meeting between the government of Ukraine, the UN system and USAID," the press service of the government said.

Shmyhal said that the authorities expect UN representatives in the near future to respond to the possibility to satisfy the needs of the regions.

“We also propose over the next two weeks to hold meetings of the UN system with all regions in order to go through the list and determine what assistance can be provided,” the prime minister said.

He stressed that the priority areas of humanitarian assistance for Ukraine are, in particular, the provision of essential goods to the most vulnerable groups of people, the expansion of assistance programs, assistance with housing repairs, and the construction of bomb shelters.

It is noted that participants in the meeting agreed to create a platform and headquarters for coordinating the needs and hold the next meeting this month.
