HACC Appeal Chamber confiscates Yanukovych's assets registered to his son Oleksandr

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Appeal Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has decided to confiscate the assets and property of ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, registered to his son Oleksandr.

The operative part of the court’s decision, the text of which is available to Interfax-Ukraine, states that the Appeal Chamber of the HACC partially satisfied the appeal of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and confiscated the assets and property of Oleksandr Yanukovych in favor of the state.

"The decision of the HACC dated December 12, 2022 regarding the refusal to satisfy the claim for the indirect possession of the property that belongs to Oleksandr Yanukovych by Viktor Yanukovych shall be canceled. The decision by which the claims of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine shall be satisfied. The sanction provided for by Clause 1-1, Part 1, Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine "On sanctions" shall apply to Viktor Yanukovych. Assets (movable, immovable property) that are registered in the name of Oleksandr Yanukovych shall be recovered to the state’s income," the HACC Appeal Chamber said in the decision.

In particular, as noted in the decision, the court confiscated two land plots in Donetsk, a building with an area of almost 1,500 square meters, two household buildings, and a residential building with an area of about 1,000 square meters.

Also, as indicated in the decision, three nonresidential buildings and structures in Yalta with an area of about 1,000 square meters and the car Toyota Land Cruiser 100 made in 2007 are sent to the state’s income.

The appeal in another part was left without satisfaction (it is about the confiscation of property registered to other relatives of the ex-president).

As reported, in December 2022, the HACC confiscated and recovered the assets of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych worth tens of millions of hryvnias to the state. In particular, the court exacted movable, immovable property and funds to the state income, namely: the Recreation and Health Center and a residential building (with an area of 825.8 square meters), which are located in the village of Novi Petrivtsi (Vyshgorod district, Kyiv region), several parking spaces in the underground parking, an apartment, a house, a Brig, a 100% stake in the charter capital of Tantalit LLC, as well as in Dim Linyka LLC, cash in the amount of UAH 31.048 billion and $84.965 million.
