KYIV. May 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Yuriy Ihnat, Speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commenting on the destruction of the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle in the sky over Kyiv region, urged not to make loud news out of this, since this is equipment and malfunctions happen.
“Yes, it was a drone, unfortunately, our Bayraktar TB2, sorry, of course. We lost them already at the front, but, you know, make such news out of it. This happens, lost control, it’s equipment, what else to do. It was necessary to neutralize it and that’s it. There were probably no other options left. Now they will figure out what caused it. It is very important to understand, because we have them in service,” he said on the air of the national telethon.
The speaker noted that the sky gives a misleading impression of aerial targets, so visually for many residents it could seem that the drone was right above their house.
“In the sky, it seems completely different from what it is on the ground. Visually, it seems that it is flying over your house, but in fact it is several, five, maybe more kilometers away,” Ihnat said.
He also noted that due to the publication of the video on the network, a lot of attention was riveted to the incident.
“The video does its job. Sometimes, you know, when we, unfortunately, lose a plane and a pilot, there is much less attention,” Ihnat added.
Earlier, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that a Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle that had lost control was liquidated in Kyiv region, the causes of the problem are being established.
