KYIV. May 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – India has already formed a position on principle issues for Ukraine, in particular on supporting its territorial integrity and sovereignty, Andriy Yermak, head of the President’s Office, said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“India has already clearly formed the very fundamental issues for us on territorial integrity, our sovereignty, etc.,” he said.
Answering the agency’s question regarding the prospects for reducing the volume of India’s purchases of oil from Russia after the meeting of the President of Ukraine with the Indian Prime Minister on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in Japan, Yermak emphasized the following: “You can’t immediately ‘pour’ everything (on India).”
“The question is: is there something to start with in relations with India. So far, we are at a stage where it is necessary that they clearly understand what is happening in Ukraine,” he said.
According to the head of the President’s Office, there was no strategic partnership between Ukraine and India for a long time, in this regard, issues related to the purchase of Russian oil and a number of other issues need to be resolved in the format of bilateral official visits.
“We are working on this now. I constantly repeat: we need to find the keys to each country,” he said.
