KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare of India has included Ukraine in the list of countries that do not treat grain crops with fumigants containing the active ingredient methyl bromide, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection reported with reference to the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of India.
“This will allow domestic exporters to be exempt from paying additional payments (penalties) stipulated by local legislation and to export grain cargoes when disinfected with preparations with aluminum phosphide,” the State Food Service said in a statement on Tuesday.
The department clarified that Ukrainian grain for export to India must be disinfected with preparations exclusively with aluminum phosphide. It is recalled that work to resume the export of Ukrainian grain to India has been carried out since 2016.
