KYIV. Nov 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Japanese government has transferred to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs 40 vehicles and special equipment that will help in demining territories affected by Russian military aggression, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said.
“Almost every month, the Japanese government transfers to us technical equipment, automotive equipment, mine clearance vehicles to quickly clean up our territories and water bodies,” Klymenko said during a ceremony for the transfer of international technical assistance in Kyiv on Monday.
He noted that Ukraine plans to train 5,000 sappers and pyrotechnicians by the end of next year. At the same time, it is necessary to equip military personnel and rescuers who deal with mine clearance with automobile and special transport and equipment.
“Therefore, today these 40 vehicles and related equipment provided by the Japanese government … will provide us with the breadth and speed of demining our territories,” Klymenko emphasized.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that the Japanese government transfers equipment to Ukraine not only directly, but also through a number of organizations, including the UN.
On Monday, the Japanese delegation handed over 40 cars, 50 metal detectors, 150 containers, and fire extinguishing liquid.
