KYIV. Dec 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Some 60 generators and more than 83,000 solar-powered lamps have been delivered in Ukraine, provided by the Japanese government as part of Ukraine’s winter support, Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda has said.

"It’s already delivered. This is the first shipment. With this money, we have already delivered 60 generators as well as 83,500 solar lanterns or solar lights. I think that next week we’re going to receive the next shipment of the generators and in January we are going to receive the third shipment of generators," the ambassador told Interfax-Ukraine.

As reported, the Government of Japan on November 22 decided to provide emergency grant assistance in the amount of about $2.57 million as support for winterization assistance in the electricity sector in Ukraine.

"The Government of Japan will provide assistance to Ukraine through the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) by providing Ukraine with solar-powered generators and lamps."
