Japanese journalist injured in missile attack on Kyiv returns home

KYIV. Jan 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Journalist of the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun Wataru Sekita has said his leg was injured as a result of Russia’s missile attack on Kyiv on December 31.

"The hotel where I was staying was attacked by Russia and my right leg was injured. My leg still hurts, but I am fine. I will go home for now. I would like to continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine, so I ask for your continued support," he said on Twitter on Tuesday, January 3.

As reported, Sekita suffered the injury in Kyiv’s Pechersky district during Russia’s missile attack on Kyiv. He was hospitalized. The Embassy of Japan in Ukraine expressed deep indignation at the massive Russian missile attack on the civilian population of Ukraine and the wounding of a Japanese journalist in Kyiv.
