Kherson receives UAH 50 mln allocated by Kyiv to provide vital services – Klitschko

KYIV. Jan 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kherson received funds allocated by Kyiv for the restoration and life support of the city liberated from Russian invaders, mayor of Kyiv, head of the Association of Ukrainian Cities Vitali Klitschko said.

"Kherson received funds – UAH 50 million to be able to provide vital services to residents. The city also needs money to restore hospitals, infrastructure – everything that we cannot transfer as technical or humanitarian assistance, but without which it is impossible to resume life in Kherson," the press service of the Kyiv mayor quotes Klitschko.

It is noted that in this way all the decisions adopted by the Kyiv City Council on helping the communities liberated from occupation by Russian troops were implemented.

"The first funds from Kyiv were sent to the most affected communities of Kyiv agglomeration, which stood in the way of the barbarians breaking through to Kyiv. In Kyiv region, ten communities received financial assistance from the capital’s budget," the message emphasizes.

It is noted that with the next decision, Kyiv helped five communities in Chernihiv region.

"At the request of the military administration of Kherson, it was decided to help the city, which from the first days of a full-scale invasion was occupied, which mayor was kidnapped by the aggressor and is in captivity," Klitschko’s press service notes.

They add that in general, Kyiv provided direct financial assistance to 16 communities for a total of UAH 410 million.
