Kuleba: Only cessation of Russian shelling of Ukraine's infrastructure, withdrawal of troops, release of all POWs, deportees can open way to peace

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Only Russia’s real actions, namely the cessation of terrorist attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, the withdrawal of troops from Ukrainian territory, the release of all prisoners and deportees, can open the way to peace, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said, but at the moment Ukraine does not see such readiness on the Russian side.

"Only Russia’s real actions: the cessation of terrorist attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, the withdrawal of troops from Ukrainian territory, the release of all prisoners and deportees can open the way to peace. At the moment, we do not see such readiness on the Russian side. Russia’s actions on the contrary demonstrate that it does not seek peace and is not ready to stop aggression," Kuleba said at an online briefing on Tuesday.

According to him, suffering defeats at the front, the Russian regime just wants to buy time to renew its potential and prepare for a new strike.

"The Russian side has openly admitted that missile strikes on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure are being carried out in order to force our country to negotiate. But Putin’s regime has miscalculated – with its terrorist attacks, it will not force Ukrainians to sacrifice their freedom and independence," Kuleba said.

He stressed that only Ukraine will determine when and how to negotiate with the aggressor.

"There will be no agreements on Ukraine without Ukraine. We are grateful to our partners for the repeated confirmation of agreement on this position. We count on its preservation and continued support for Ukraine and increased pressure on Russia," Kuleba said.
