KYIV. Nov 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba will pay a visit to Phnom Penh (Cambodia) on November 10-12 at the invitation of his Cambodian counterpart Prak Sokhonn, who is chairing the ASEAN this year.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, during the visit Kuleba will take part in the official ceremony of Ukraine’s accession to the founding document of ASEAN – The Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).
"Next week I will go to Cambodia, which is currently chairing the ASEAN, for the long-awaited accession of Ukraine to the ASEAN founding treaty and holding a number of bilateral meetings with the countries of the region,” the minister said.
He stressed that the visit to Cambodia will continue the course of opening new horizons, as the development of relations with ASEAN is a key priority of Ukraine in Southeast Asia.
"ASEAN is a powerful association of 10 countries: Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. All of them are interesting for us in their own way from the point of view of political support, cooperation in the defense sector, supply of Ukrainian agro-industrial products, promotion of Ukrainian IT products, mutually beneficial trade, etc. Relations with ASEAN are a new potential and new opportunities for Ukraine,” Kuleba said.
