Kuleba: We count on Germany's leadership in transfer of Patriot, Leopard-2 tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles

KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine is counting on Germany’s leadership in the transfer of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, Leopard-2 tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles, since there can be no taboos in helping Ukraine with weapons to protect the whole of Europe from the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.

"I am grateful to Germany for the decision to strengthen our air defense and transfer an additional seven Gepard anti-aircraft installations. At the same time, Ukrainian diplomats continue to make efforts in negotiations with the German side regarding the transfer of Leopard-2 tanks and Patriot air defense system to Ukraine," Kuleba said at a briefing on Tuesday.

He noted that the German side has already demonstrated leadership in the supply of Iris-T air defense systems and other important weapons.

"We count on leadership in the transfer of Patriot, Leopard-2 tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles. There can be no taboos in the issues of helping Ukraine with weapons to protect the whole of Europe from the armed aggression of the Russian Federation," the minister stressed.

He also once again called on all partners to strengthen military support for Ukraine.

"There is no need to look for excuses and postpone key decisions. It’s time to close the skies over Ukraine – to do it with the help of air defense systems that should come to Ukraine in sufficient numbers," Kuleba said.
