KYIV. Nov 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba took part in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union, where he said that Kyiv counts on the unanimous support of the leaders of the EU countries to start negotiations with Ukraine at the December meeting of the European Council.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Kuleba expressed gratitude to the EU for providing weapons and ammunition. He stressed that it is impossible to overestimate the positive impact of the recent decision of the European Commission, which recommended opening negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
“Thanks to the positive recommendation of the European Commission, Ukrainians felt that our struggle was not in vain, that our efforts were recognized. We count on the unanimous support of your leaders in December, when the European Council will meet to approve the decision to open negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU,” he said.
Kuleba assured that Ukraine would make every effort to make a decision on the framework of the negotiations and recalled that on the day of the publication of the report by the European Commission, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on preparations for the negotiations.
In addition, at the Council, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine proposed to his colleagues to significantly strengthen cooperation with countries of Africa, the Arab world, Asia and South America. According to the Ukrainian Minister, today there are two tools for strengthening contacts with these regions: the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the humanitarian program Grain From Ukraine, launched by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“The negotiations on the Peace Formula have positive dynamics, despite the escalation in the Middle East. The meeting in Malta in October was very timely and successful. We are grateful to the European Council, the European Commission and the member States for their participation. We must work even more actively to ensure a wider representation of global partners and prepare for the Global Peace Summit,” he stressed.
Kuleba also recalled that the second International Summit on Food Security, dedicated to the Grain From Ukraine program, will be held in Kyiv on November 25. He called on the EU and member states to take part in it.
