KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputies of Kyiv City Council on Thursday approved the budget for 2024 by 80 votes, the press service of the city council reports.
According to the report, Kyiv budget revenues for the next year are planned to total more than UAH 72.6 billion, while expenses are UAH 85.3 billion.
The largest share of income comes from tax revenues, of which personal income tax is planned to amount to UAH 32 billion, which is UAH 1.6 billion more than this year. Revenues from corporate income tax should also increase compared to the 2023 budget to UAH 7.5 billion versus UAH 4.2 billion. At the same time, revenues from local taxes were reduced to UAH 16.8 billion versus UAH 18 billion. Funds from the sale of land are planned at UAH 2.8 billion.
The main area of funding is the education sector – about a third of the city budget is allocated to it, UAH 27.2 billion. For transport, roads and communications – UAH 23.8 billion, for housing and communal services – UAH 8.2 billion, social protection – UAH 7.8 billion, healthcare – about UAH 6 billion, culture and art – UAH 1.7 billion, physical education and sports – UAH 1.5 billion, for the Defender of Kyiv program for 2022-2024 – UAH 1 billion from the free balance.
“Today’s work of the city must be planned in the realities of martial law and regular shelling by the enemy. Our priority task is to ensure the operation of the capital’s critical infrastructure. Education, transport, housing and communal services, social security and medicine are those sectors that need priority support,” First Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Mykola Povoroznyk said.
The deputies also approved the Program for Economic and Social Development of Kyiv for 2024-2026. The priority of the program for the next year is the creation of safe conditions for living and moving in the city, adaptation and reintegration into society of combatants and IDPs, the report states.
For capital expenditures under the program for 2024, UAH 13.3 billion is provided, of which UAH 6.6 billion is for construction and reconstruction, UAH 6.7 billion is for major repairs.
About UAH 5.2 billion will be allocated for housing and communal services, of which UAH 1.7 billion will be allocated for localizing the negative impact of solid waste landfills, reconstruction and construction of sewer collectors and water supply facilities, and reconstruction of the wastewater treatment system.
