KYIV. Dec 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of Sunday, December 17, the largest Ukrainian telecom operator Kyivstar, after a failure on December 12, restored the provision of voice communication services, including roaming, mobile data transmission, Home Internet services, virtual private network services (VPN) and began resuming access to M2M (Machine-to-Machine) services for business clients.
“The company plans to turn on the SMS service as quickly as possible,” Kyivstar said in a statement.
The services are being gradually restored in compliance with all safety requirements; the company will inform about 100% operability of services upon completion of all stabilization measures.
In some localities, in particular in Kyiv, there could still be short-term difficulties with the availability of the Home Internet service, the company said.
It has attracted all available personnel, including from other regions, to quickly resume the service.
“Also, during the period of stabilization measures, the mobile data service may operate at reduced speed,” the company said.
Kyivstar reminded that if the subscriber’s SIM card is not registered in the network, one needs to restart the phone or turn on and off the airplane mode. In addition, selecting the Kyivstar network in the phone settings helps.
At the same time, the company said that the accrual of bonuses and compensation to subscribers who could not use communication services due to a hacker attack will be made only after the network has been completely stabilized and all services have been launched, and asked to wait for official information.
As reported, after a failure early in the morning of December 12, caused by a large-scale cyber attack, Kyivstar began resuming voice services on the evening of December 13; a day later, the company’s mobile Internet was relaunched in some regions, and the company announced its full restoration throughout the country on the evening of December 15.
