KYIV. May 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Lithuanian government has announced a new package of military assistance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, involving the supply of missile defense systems and ammunition, the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania reported.
“On May 25, Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas attended a distance meeting of the Ramstein Format of Ukraine’s donor countries where he noted the importance of giving Ukraine the Euro-Atlantic perspective and present Lithuania’s latest military assistance package,” the press service of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense reported on the official website on Thursday.
Anušauskas announced that the “next package of assistance Lithuania would provide to Ukraine will include drone jamming equipment, ammunition, military rations, and other types of assistance.” As noted in the press release, Lithuania’s military assistance to Ukraine will soon reach EUR 465 million.
“Our support to Ukraine is really our investment in our own resilience, deterrence and defence. Ukraine’s victory is the only thing that can restore peace and stability in the Euro-Atlantic space,” said Minister while underscoring that Lithuania will continue being a consistent supporter of Ukraine for as long as it takes until that day.
During the meeting, the Minister supported the need to introduce a new package of EU sanctions against their circumvention through third countries. He also stressed the importance of training the Ukrainian military, noting that Lithuania has significantly increased the scale of such training courses and the number of instructors participating in them.
