Lithuania to transfer air defense, anti-aircraft installations to Ukraine – Nauseda

LVIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Lithuania will transfer air defense systems and anti-aircraft installations to Ukraine, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said.

"We want this war to end as soon as possible with the victory of Ukraine … We are doing everything possible to provide support to Ukraine, in particular, in the military sphere. Today I brought good news. We are transferring air defense systems and anti-aircraft installations that should help you in the fight," Nauseda said at a press conference with the presidents of Ukraine and Poland in Lviv.

He stressed that there were no contradictions in the internal political system of Lithuania regarding support and assistance to Ukraine, which, according to him, should be maximum and fast.

At the same time, Nauseda noted, now Ukraine needs to move towards new achievements, in particular, regarding the beginning of the process of negotiations on EU accession.

"At such a difficult time, your country is implementing recommendations for the start of negotiations on full membership in the EU. I am sure that we will soon have the opportunity to discuss this issue at the level of the European Council, which will meet on February 9-10. Our country is doing everything possible to include the issue of Ukraine in the agenda. I think that under the Swedish presidency there will be concrete steps to accelerate the negotiation process," the head of Lithuania said.
