By KYIV. Nov 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In Lithuania, fines for non-compliance with international and national sanctions will be transferred to the Development Cooperation Fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, LRT reported on Sunday, November 19.
This is provided for by the amendment to the law “On cooperation for development and humanitarian assistance” adopted by the Seimas this week, the message reads.
“The goal is for Lithuania to make a united contribution to Ukraine’s reconstruction and to demonstrate its firm commitment to support Ukraine in the face of Russia’s aggression,” Deputy Foreign Minister Jovita Neliupšienė said when presenting the bill to the Seimas, the LRT said.
According to her, Lithuania will take measures to promote the restoration of Ukraine independently, without waiting for decisions of the European Union or at the international level.
В The amendment also clarifies that these funds will be used exclusively for support related to the restoration and rehabilitation of Ukraine after Russian aggression. This amendment will be in force for ten years, until January 2034.
According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, violation of international sanctions or restrictive measures introduced by Lithuanian legislation is punishable by a fine of EUR 200,000 to EUR 6,000.
