London considering possibility of supplying tanks to Ukraine – media

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The authorities of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland confirmed earlier reports about plans to provide tanks to Ukraine, the Financial Times (FT) reported on Wednesday, citing a representative of the British government.

It says that a Downing Street spokesman told reporters that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had asked Defense Minister Ben Wallace to work with partners in the coming weeks to resolve the issue of sending further aid to Ukraine, including tanks, faster.

A government representative said that they acceleratingtheir support for Ukraine with the help of next-generation military technologies.

FT says that if the United Kingdom supplies Kyiv with the main battle tanks of the British ground forces Challenger 2, it will become the first state to supply Ukraine with modern battle tanks.

Earlier, Sky news reported that the British authorities are considering sending Challenger 2 to Ukraine, and London can supply Kyiv with up to 10 such tanks.
