KYIV. May 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets hopes that in the near future Ukraine will begin to return children illegally deported by Russia.
“We hope that in the near future we will be able to publicly show the results of our work, when Ukrainian children begin to return. I don’t know how many we are talking about now… The developed version allows us, first of all, to return children who have relatives in the territory Ukraine… In parallel, we are compiling lists of orphans,” Lubinets said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.
He said there are several options for the return of Ukrainian children.
“Just yesterday… we were working on a variant on the Vatican, it is not the main one…,” the ombudsman said.
Lubinets said today he could not publicly voice the options being discussed.
“For us, it is important to return every Ukrainian child,” Lubinets said.
