Lviv, Odesa national operas awarded title of Opera Company of the year in 2022 at International Opera Awards – Ministry of Culture

KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and Odesa Opera and Ballet Theatre received the title of Opera Company of the year in 2022 at the International Opera Awards, the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine has reported.

"This is the highest recognition of opera art in the world from colleagues from all over the world. Recognition of the resilience, fortitude and light of Ukrainian artists. Both theaters released world premieres of Ukrainian operas this autumn in Ukraine, where there is a war. I am grateful to all our partners, thanks to whom this became possible," Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Halyna Hryhorenko said.

For the first time in history, the Opera Company award is given jointly to two companies.

The International Opera Awards is an international award in the opera genre, which has been awarded annually since 2013. The award was established by British businessman, philanthropist and opera fan Harry Hyman and Opera magazine editor John Allison in 2013.
