KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – For the first time since the beginning of a full-scale war, Lviv region signed a Partnership Agreement with a foreign region – the German federal state of Saarland, head of the regional military administration Maksym Kozytsky said.
“The corresponding document was concluded today by Lviv regional military administration and the German federal state of Saarland. Madam Minister-President of Saarland Anke Rehlinger was present at the signing,” Kozytsky wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to him, “we agreed on cooperation in the field of vocational education and with universities, in particular medical ones, also on joint work in the medical industry and on the basis of one of the regional hospitals. To do this, we will create working groups that will develop a strategy, further steps and their implementation.”
As Kozytsky noted, other areas of cooperation were also outlined, “in particular in the energy sector and the transformation of coal territories. The experience and knowledge of the federal state of Saarland is especially valuable to us, since the last mine in this region was closed in 2012. This process is inevitable for all coal regions, because even before the start of a full-scale war, Ukraine committed itself to supporting climate policy, which provides for a gradual abandonment of fossil fuels and a transition to renewable energy sources, and the development of modern energy-efficient technologies.”
The meeting in Lviv regional military administration with a delegation from Saarland and the signing of the Partnership Agreement took place under the coordination of the Regional Office for International Cooperation of Lviv Region.
