Macron expresses hope that Ukraine to come back to table with Russians through mediation of permanent members of UNSC, Europe – media

KYIV. Nov 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – French President Emmanuel Macron expressed hope that Ukraine will return to the negotiating table with Russia, and that five permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) and Europeans will participate in the negotiations, Nikkei Asia reports.

"The Ukrainians will – this is my hope – come back to the table with the Russians, and the international community will be around this table, and P5 members [the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council] and the Europeans will be part of it," he said.

He stressed that this is not a regional conflict, but a violation of the UN Charter, therefore it is necessary to help Ukraine survive.

"This is not just a regional conflict or something between the West and the East, because these principles are those of the U.N. Charter. And all of us subscribe to these principles. And we have to help Ukraine to resist in this situation,” the president said.
