Maliar about new wave of mobilization in Russia: they determined to fight for long time

KYIV. Jan 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar, commenting on Russia’s preparation for a new wave of mobilization, noted that this is a serious challenge, indicating Russia’s intention to wage a long war.

"Mobilization is really powerful there, and this is really a very serious challenge. And it shows that they are determined to fight for a long time," she said on the air of the national telethon on Tuesday.

The Deputy Minister stressed that the formation of private armies indicates the demotivation of regular troops.

"They don’t understand basically what they have to die for here. Secondly, indeed, taking into account how the Russian authorities treat them, they do not want to fight. Therefore, private armies are more motivated, they fight for money. This suggests that they no longer have enough regular resources," Maliar explained.

At the same time, she urged not to underestimate the Russian Federation.

As reported, on December 31, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov called on the Russians to avoid a new wave of mobilization, which could take place in the near future. According to Reznikov, in early January 2023, Russia is preparing to introduce martial law and intends to close the borders for men.
