Market of electric vehicles in Ukraine in 2022 grows by 1.5 times

KYIV. Jan 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Registrations of new and used electric vehicles in Ukraine in 2022 increased by 1.5 times compared to 2021 – up to 13,318 units, including 16.9% against 14.2% of new ones, the Federation of the Automotive Industry of Ukraine reported, based on data from the Interior Ministry.

According to information on the website of the federation, in December, compared to the same month of 2021, the market grew by 68% – up to 1,559 units, which also exceeded November 2022 by 9.6%.

"The shelling, power outage, crisis did not collapse the market. It showed another increase. And something happened in the top ten that seemed impossible a few years ago – the leader changed. And this is not Tesla, which stepped on the heels of Nissan – Volkswagen took the lead, climbing four steps in a year," the federation notes.

At the end of the year, the brand occupied 20.7% of the electric vehicle market, increasing sales by more than five times – up to 2,754 units. The leader of the previous year, Nissan, with a share of 18.8%, became the second, and sales of this brand grew by 13% – up to 2,509 units. Tesla, which took second place in 2021, became third with a quarter increase in sales to 2,089 d units and a market share of 15.7%.

Fourth place, as in the previous year, is occupied by Renault – 6.5% of the market, and Honda with a share of 5.7% ranked fifth, having increased registrations by almost five times – up to 756 units.

At the same time, Chevrolet, which occupied the third place in the ranking in 2021, moved to the 10th position in 2022, halving registrations to 397 units.

Other brands included in the top ten ranking from the six to the ninth places (Hyundai, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi) increased their registrations.
