Moldova expels Russian diplomat

CHISINAU. Oct 31 (Interfax) – The Moldovan Foreign Ministry has announced the expulsion of an employee of the Russian embassy in Chisinau.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration hereby informs that it has decided to declare a representative from the Russian Embassy in Chisinau a persona non grata in our country, who now must leave the Republic of Moldova," the ministry said on Monday evening.

Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov was summoned to the ministry on October 31 and notified accordingly.

"During the conversation, [the ministry] confirmed that missile strikes on a neighboring country continue to increase security risks and our country’s citizens were increasingly feeling the devastating effects of war on themselves. It was stressed that attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure were also giving rise to greater threats to the country’s energy security," the statement said.
