More than UAH 100 mln seized under customs corruption cases transferred for AFU needs

KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – More than UAH 100 million seized under criminal cases on corruption at the customs have been transferred for needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

"Due to joint work of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), the State Treasury Service of Ukraine, and the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), another UAH 113.7 million have been transferred for needs of the AFU," the SAPO said on Facebook on Thursday.

These funds were seized within the framework of investigation into two criminal cases on customs corruption by NABU detectives. One of the cases was sent to the High Anti-Corruption Court for hearing.

"The court’s investigating judges considered and satisfied a motion filed by NABU detectives and SAPO prosecutor to seize and transfer UAH 113.7 million under the management of the ARMA, which created an opportunity to acquire a package of securities," it said.

SAPO recalled that UAH 300 million seized under the same two criminal cases have been transferred in September 2022. In general, more than UAH 1.2 billion of bails and seized assets have been transferred for needs of the AFU under SAPO and NABU cases.
