NABU, SAPO expose ex-director of armored plant, his dpty on theft of parts for armored vehicles in 2014

KYIV. Nov 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Monday, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) reported suspicion to former director and deputy director of the Zhytomyr Armored Plant of embezzlement of the plant’s property for more than UAH 4.5 million.

As reported on the NABU website, the actions of individuals were qualified under Part 5 of Article 191 (appropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

"According to the investigation, the suspects in the fall of 2014 illegally carried out the deconservation of the property of the State Agency of the Reserve of Ukraine, namely 20 engines for armored vehicles. They were actually withdrawn from the mobilization reserve and disposed of at their discretion. These actions were carried out during an acute shortage of military equipment for the AFU during Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine," the report says.
