National budget for 2024 provides funding for patriotic movies, certificates for children's books – Shmyhal

KYIV. Sept 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has announced that the national budget for 2024 provides funding for making patriotic movies and series as well as certificates for children’s books.

“The financing was not reduced as compared to this year: UAH 10.7 billion for culture and media landscape. It is UAH 2.3 billion more than last year,” he said at a press conference on Friday.

The prime minister said that the key expenses on which sphere include UAH 3.4 billion for public broadcasting and information security of the state, UAH 2.1 billion for the development of culture through support for theater and concert organizations, UAH 554 million for funding of initiatives in the spheres of culture, creative industries, reading promotion, and UAH 511 million for the production and distribution of patriotic movies and series.

Shmyhal stressed the importance of funding documentary production as long as it helps to record Russia’s crimes.

Also, for the first time, the budget will provide funding for certificates for children’s books and implementation of support projects for national minorities and indigenous peoples.
