NATO Secretary General: Meeting of Alliance's FMs in Bucharest is another important opportunity to confirm support for Ukraine

BUCHAREST. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is convinced that the upcoming meeting of the foreign Ministers of the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance will provide an opportunity to once again declare their support for Ukraine, as well as to discuss the strengthening of the assistance provided.

He said this at a joint press conference with Romanian President Klaus Johannis in Bucharest on Monday.

“Here in Bucharest, NATO Foreign Ministers will address ways to step up our support for Ukraine, as well as other partners facing Russian pressure – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and Moldova,” Stoltenberg said.

The NATO Secretary General said that the Alliance “cannot let Putin win.” “This would show authoritarian leaders around the world that they can achieve their goals by using military force. And make the world a more dangerous place for all of us. So it is in our own security interest to support Ukraine,” he explained.

During a meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu, Stoltenberg noted that he is “looking forward to the meeting tomorrow.” “That provides us with an opportunity to reiterate the strong message from NATO Allies, including Romania, that we support Ukraine, we support the right to self-defence, and that we need to continue to provide both military support but also humanitarian and financial support,” the Secretary General said.

A meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers will be held in Bucharest on November 29-30.
