NBU transfers UAH 22.3 bln from special account to help Armed Forces of Ukraine, UAH 920 mln for humanitarian aid in 2022

KYIV. Jan 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In 2022, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) transferred UAH 22.3 billion in equivalent to help the Ukrainian military, and UAH 920 million for humanitarian assistance.

As the press service of the National Bank reported on Tuesday, in December the NBU transferred more than UAH 1 billion to the special account of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is twice as much as in November (UAH 445.4 million).

UAH 7.9 billion from the United States, the UK, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, China, France and Canada were transferred to the account from abroad.

For the needs of the National Guard, the NBU transferred UAH 990 million, the National Police – UAH 1.65 billion, the Ministry of Defense – UAH 14.721 billion, the State Border Guard Service – UAH 980.2 million, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine – more than UAH 3.8 billion, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine – UAH 19.3 million, for the needs of the National Security and Defense Council – UAH 40.5 million, the State Special Transport Service – UAH 67 million, and for the needs of the Security Service of Ukraine – UAH 90 million.

As reported, on February 24, the National Bank opened a special multi-currency account UA843000010000000047330992708 to raise funds for the needs of the army in connection with the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the danger to the state independence of Ukraine, its territorial integrity.

The NBU said that this is a multi-currency account created both for transferring funds from international partners and donors in foreign currency (U.S. dollars, euros, British pounds), and from Ukrainian businesses and citizens in national currency.
